The two of us met on behalf of Meixiu's cousin Sishi. Sishi introduced us in August 2009. Meixiu and I communicated via email and telephone calls for 5 months, until we finally met face to face on February 26, 2010. Meeting each other for the first time face to face was the most amazing experience for both of us. It was rough at the beginning, but after a couple days - things got better. We spent 28 days together, which we both will NEVER forget. The two of us got engaged on February 28, 2010, after Matthew announced the proposal to Meixiu’s parents. After we got approval from her parents, we soon purchased a very nice engagement/wedding ring at a local jeweler in Nanning. During the time we spent together in Nanning, we lived together, went shopping, visited parks, walked the streets, and much more. The 2 of us also spent every second together until my departure back to the USA.

Once all the paperwork had been submitted we waited a long 6 months, until Meixiu got her approval and gained entry into the USA. I purchased a one-way non-stop flight for Meixiu from Guangzhou, China to Los Angeles, California. Instead of Meixiu arriving to the USA alone and trying to figure out where to go, I decided to meet her in the airport. I took a flight from Traverse City to Detroit and Detroit to Los Angeles. I waited in the airport until her arrival. Both of us were excited to finally meet again. We both got on our next flight together that same day November 3, 2010 and flew back to Detroit. My parents waited for us in the Detroit airport and took us home November 4, 2010.

Our Wedding

Our wedding took place on December 11, 2010 at the Park Place Hotel in Traverse City, Michigan. The day before our wedding, we were taken around town in a big limousine. We went bowling, checked in our room at the Park Place, and then got dropped off at Right Brain Brewery. We were a little drunk after our night out together, but everyone with us had a fun time.

Meixiu and I stayed the night at the hotel the night before our wedding. The next morning, we helped decorate the room and got dressed. The wedding ceremony was a good memory that we will never forget. We want to thank everyone who attended our wedding.
